Message: <blockquote data-quote="AIM-54" data-source="post: 1745431" data-attributes="member: 15633">I voted 3rd edition myself.  I first started playing with 2nd and was not really a fan, although I loved the books.  Can't beat shadowtalk <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)"  data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" />  Anyway, a few years later we came back to 3rd edition and I love it.  It remains my favorite game.  I never had the advantage of playing with people who already knew the rules, so we spent about a year mucking around, figuring stuff out and having a blast.  Things run smoother now that we've got that all under control, but the comments on complexity are not unwarranted.  I've had the pleasure of teaching the game to newbies as well (which was a blast, although I'm still not sure I have everything down...) and if we'd had more time, they'd have gotten it down (it was the end of my senior year of college).  I'm actually hoping to run something with them again when I head up to Boston in a couple weeks.In terms of the books, while I wish they'd kept some Shadowtalk elements in the core books, they seem to have kept that part mostly for the supplements (SOTA:2063, SONA, the Target books etc).  And I concur on the Rigger books, the Rigger's Black Book was awesome because of all the pix.  Rigger 3 Revised has pix for most of the vehicles, but it still remains almost entirely crunch...mmm EW rules... <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f61b.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":p" title="Stick out tongue    :p"  data-smilie="7"data-shortname=":p" /> If I were to run into a relatively local SR game down here, I'd drop my current d20 group without hesitation...but part of that is due to serious burnout on D&D.Okay, I'll stop my inane, SR-starved ramblings.  <img src="http://www.enworld.org/forum/images/smilies/laugh.png"  class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing    :lol:" data-shortname=":lol:" /></blockquote>
