What I originally liked about the series was its grand theme (ie the Wheel of Time and the Dark One versus the Creator). The problem with the more recent books is that Jordan seems to have moved away from the mythic and epic feel of the series to instead get bogged down in politics which he does not quite have the same flair for writing as other authors. Add to that the fact that the plot lines just inch forward and in some places feel rather contrived and the Wheel of Time just does not have quite the same appeal that it used to. The other problem for me is that having read the exploits of the main characters now for 10 books they are rapidly starting to lose their appeal and in some places just become plain irritating. After reading the coma inducing Crossroads of Twilight I started to feel more sympathetic to the Dark One then any of the main characters. If I was trapped in a bloody prison and made to watch essentially the same story repeat for the rest of eternity the way Jordan is writing it at the moment I too would want to break the freakin Wheel!yours Salthanas</blockquote>
