Okay so I only bought Iron Heroes yesterday online and it looks fab. So I want to try it out before 4e hits. Our current campaign is in FR(daggerdale) with some 11lv characters and I am going to do a breeze through the weave destruction module trilogy, to blow up the realms before 4e. My players are some of the slowest in history, so I will have to keep the realms blowup short and snappy, taking some locations from the trilogy and bunching up the monsters. After that I though I would wait for 4e and start with H1, but I'm iching to try IH, so I though if I accelerate the realms blow up I could have IH and FR meet. Here is how I would see it working: - At the finale of the mystra death throws I'll have the PCs escape by portal or get sucked in. However just as they do the weave collapses and sends them to the real forgotten realms. - This place is physically very similar to FR, it was created when Mystryl died and the weave collapsed. The magical backlash caused a split in reality an exact duplicate of Toril, that spun off into the astral sea. This duplicate had many people sucked into it, they just dissapeared from Toril. Some people where split and a soulless duplicate exists on NewToril or the old world. The population of NewToril is significantly less than Toril. - Lord Ao, at this time, sealed the version with less people from all outside contact, it lost all magic and access to the Gods, even most of the Gods do not know it exists. He did plan to try and reintegrate the two worlds, however as New Toril evolved this integration would not be possible as it would cause too much trouble in one of the realms - During the split and after it was sealed, New Toril sped through the Astral Sea toward the far realm. The Far Realms influence bypassed even Lord Ao's seal. Eventually Acanists on New Toril found a way to use that energy to power spells. - The magic backlash that the weave collapsing causes a similar incident and allows the PCs to enter New Toril, however they will abide by the physical laws of that place and I will rebuild their character before the session. That gives me around a 1000+ years of history to allow humans and others to kill off elves, dwarves, halflings and gnomes. I was thinking that maybe elves didn't make the transition and only shadows exist, so Cormantyr is full of deadly shadows. I'm trying to work out how the Dales, specifically Dagger dale works without as much magic or Gods. I though it would be cool to have the Zentarim as a more protective organisation, possibly an army. Have the Dales as a lot of free city states. Have Cormyr as a bit of an empire, maybe less on the good side. I don't think the Anauroch would exist. I'm thinking darker aberrations from the Far Realm and lots and lots of nasty giants, Trolls and ogres rule the north with their orc minions. And old creatures twisted by the Far Realms into demons. Also those kir lanan would fit in well. Oh and lots of old temples, abandoned as no one believes in Gods any more, since they were abandoned. Magic is reviled. What do you all think? Any ideas would be appreciated. EDIT: Sorry about the sloppy writing, it is still a lot of mixed up ideas floating in my head
