Message: <blockquote data-quote="Zog" data-source="post: 241162" data-attributes="member: 5083">On my Franklin Ace 1500 computer, I played the DUNGEON! computer game.  It was happily rocking my little 4th or 5th grade world.  That summer, some old friends of my parents stopped by, with their kids who talked about this game called Dungeons & Dragons.  And the kewl part was - you walk down the corridor, and there is a Dragon!  a black one!  They don't just wait in rooms!  And come in more than two colors!   How cool was that????   That Christmas, my parents got me the red box set of Basic D&D.   Darn that Bargle for killing my cleric friend!  I still remember, I killed him that first time through - rolled a nat 20 on my save vs. charm.  And then looked to see what would have happened if I had missed... <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)"  data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" />And that mini dungeon - I loved it!  Several times I started with that and improved / added to it.  Ah, the rust monster - how I hated that thing!But I do remember reading the part about Mages, and deciding that the stuff about only getting 1 or 2 spells just not making any sense, clearly it meant that they got Half at level one, and then the rest of them at level 2, and then half of the 2nd level spells at level 3, etc.  Ah, the innocent joys of being in 5th grade.... <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)"  data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" /></blockquote>
