This coming Wednesday will be the last of my current 4.0E campaign, as the DM and his wife are moving, and the other three players live an hour in the opposite direction. I will be starting a new game conveniently the week after this one will end. It will be 3.5E, and the other four players and DM have tried 4.0E and hated it. I stated my preference here for 3.5E over 4.0E, but to tell the truth I started enjoying 4.0E more when my Wizard hit the upper hero tier levels. My Eladrin Wizard is the only arcane class character, and have created a unique and indespensible role for myself in the party. It also helps that the other players are great role players, and we haven't just crawled from one hack-n-slash encounter to the next. The DM said that we would level us up to 13th after this last game, and I'd like to play this character again. I'd like to see a 3.5E type cleric introduced to 4.0E. But to tell the truth, of the 20 or so gamers I've talked to IRL over the past six months, only the 15 year old video game addict preferred 4.0E over 3.5E. Regarding levels, we played three games per level the first seven levels, four for levels eight, nine and ten, and five for levels 11 and 12. We averaged two combat encounters per 3-3.5 hour games. It XP were just doled out for combat kills, we'd probably have earned 60% to 70% of the amount needed per level. Rechan - I will be in New Paltz for a week in October or November (Rocking Horse Ranch). If you are so inclined, I wouldn't mind stopping by and meeting you and your group and perhaps play one game as a guest PC. I really do like the 4.0E system, but the deal maker is not the system, it is the company.
