Where do Blue Slaad come from?

Ok, so I'm reading about Slaad...

The progression is thus:

Red Slaad, Blue Slaad, Green Slaad, Gray Slaad, Death Slaad
(one fish, two fish, red fish blue fish)

*ahem*

So, anyway, the Red Slaad are the weakest. The MM states that they can implant an egg pellet into victims. The egg pellets hatch, and within a week produce another Red Slaad. Pellets implanted into spellcasters produce Green Slaad.

Green Slaad, on the other hand, who survive for a century, go off into seclusion and come out as Gray Slaad.

Finally, Gray Slaad that "undergo some mysterious ritual" transforms them into Death Slaad making them into "veritable killing machines".

Ok, so we know where Red, Green, Gray, and Death Slaad all come from.

No comment about Blue Slaad.

So, where the heck do Blue Slaad come from?!?!

Interesting... was just reading the 2nd edition Planescape Monstrous Compendium Vol. I and it states that a Red Slaad's egg pellet hatches (After 3 months, not 1 week) into a Blue Slaad.

And that the disease that a Blue Slaad afflicts victims with transforms them into Red Slaad.

So, Blue Slaad beget Red Slaad, and Red Slaad beget Blue Slaad.

Wonder why the change in 3rd edition?

My 3.5e MM still says that a Red Slaadi implants a pellet that hatches into a Blue Slaadi. Conversely, the disease found on the claws of the Blue Slaad will transform its victim into a Red Slaadi.
