Where to buy magazine boxes?

So I've finally gotten around to organizing all my back issues of Dragon and Dungeon, but I can't find the right sized boxes to do the job.

I've been to Staples and they only have the generic file boxes. I'm looking for the comic book style boxes so I can file the mags standing on end (vs. on their sides in a normal file box). I'm also looking for the plastic bags comics now come in.

Are there stores that specialize in comic book boxes and bags? I'd rather go to the source than the comic book shops b/c I'm sure they'll charge a ridiculous markup and I'd rather buy in bulk.

Bags and Boxes

Pretty much any comic shop will be able to supply you with the bags and boxes you're looking for. If you are talking about buying in real bulk (thousands of bags and dozens of boxes), and you ask nice, most shops will give you a discounted rate (I know I do at my store).

If you have a tax ID number, you can probably buy directly from a manufacturer - and you can find them with a bit of judicious Googling.

Hope that helps.

I got my magazine boxes from Office Depot, they have alot of different types of vertical standing magazine boxes. Can't help on the plastic bags, I don't use them.

Yes, that's your best bet. A well-stocked shop will have both comic-sized boxes and magazine-sized boxes.

I just use these: Magazine Box. I like that I can see the issue number and pull them out quickly when I am searching for something (I have them lined up on a shelf in the closet).

Try this for bags: Magazine Bags (I don't know anything about the company, but I just used search-fu to find them.)

Those bags look like a good deal. I looked at those mag boxes but I want something bigger, that I can stack, and that aren't exposed.

I've been to Staples and Office Depot and both have boxes but not of the right size. The box needs to be 9 by 12 inches to fit 8.5 x 11 mags. Office Depot had boxes bigger than that, but the mags don't fit snugly and can move around inside so I'm still looking.

I'm going to call some comic shops tomorrow to see what they've got.

Thanks for all the help!

Personally, I think that's your best bet if you're looking for stackable storage boxes. You'll probably spend $4-5 a box, but they're big and sturdy cardboard that should last you a very long time (unless you really abuse them). I've used some of the same boxes for nearly a decade.
