Where's a good place to go to talk about video games?

Video games, not computer games. Both current (360, Wii, and that other one) and last gen (PS2, GameCube, XBox), and "retro" (Atari 2600, ColecoVision, etc.).

RPGnet has a VideoGame forum, but it's 50% Warcraft stuff, and 40% computer game stuff.

I was thinking of Gamespot's forums, but I fear they are overrun by 13 year olds typing stuff like, "That wee is a SUXXORS1!!1one11! ha ha ha sounds like pee, he heaahaa!!!!"

Any ideas?

If I had the answer to that question, I'd be the happiest man on Earth.

I've yet to find a great place to talk about video games in general. The Software forum here is pretty decent, and there are threads about non-RPGs, not to mention electronics in general, so I assume it's okay to talk about whatever it is you'd like. Except to speculate if they made an ET game for Atari... kinda like a second Highlander movie, kinda preposterous, if you ask me. ;)

Most of the big sites are going to fairly puerile, as far as general content goes. At least at ENW, we all have a general grasp of spelling and grammar, a large degree of civility, and with a slightly older crowd, there will be more of us that know about older games and systems.

Although I cannot speak for the forums ... I occasionally wander over to gamebanshee.com whenever I want to catch up some news regarding something coming out or that has been out. You might try that.

To agree with LP - I have yet to find anything better than our very own "Software, Computers and D&D Utilities" Forum. The pluses he listed are slightly canceled out by a small number of posters (compared to the other forums here) but it's still the best place to get a conversation that doesn't start and end with net-speak.

Try finding some video game blogs. I find they tend to be more interesting than forums, and they aren't so insular or focused on one niche. Few forums do a good job of covering the full spectrum of video games out there (due to being overly fond of one platform or another, etc.).

Personally, I post on Gamefaqs.com, which shares boards with Gamespot. But it's good because they have a message board dedicated to every game on earth, and the boards are fast.

For general video games, I post/read Neogaf (Gaming Age)

It's probably the closest thing there is to RPG.net for video games. Meaning a lot of elitism and it's extremely easy to get banned, but a fairly knowledgeable place, and lots of post on news story and such.
