My indecisiveness has reached unprecedented levels, this time. I'm so deadlocked as to which character I want to play in an upcoming Rifts game that I can't decide between the two. At the end of the day, this poll by itself probably won't decide it, either. I'll probably also end up flipping a coin 100 different times, roll dice, play War, and pluck the leaves from flowers to help me decide. I'll take notes of all the results, and then I'll collate them all together to help me decide which character to play. So which should I play? NOTE: This is taking place after Erin Tarn disappeared in Mexico, so the timeline is set before Dimension Book 1: Wormwood. Pretty much in the early days of the Rifts setting. CHOICE #1 Demigod Mutant An angelic being who travels the wastelands of Rifts Earth, preaching to the people The Word of God as he heals the sick and destroys the demonic. He's also preparing to meet the coming of the 4 different Apocalypses, which he has seen in frightening visions. CHOICE #2 Human Experiment An experiment in creating a Super-Soldier from before the Time of the Rifts. He was placed in suspended animation and was only awoken recently. He's horrified at the shape of the world, as well as the destruction of his nation. Now he seeks to rebuild America on Rifts Earth. To create a free society not just for humans, but for non-humans as well. Fighting for Truth, Justice, and the American Way on Rifts Earth. I like both ideas a WHOLE lot, but of course, I can only play one. Thing is, depending on the opposition, my choice of which to play would vary. For instance, against vampires, demons, the New Phoenix Empire, and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, I'd love to play the angel. Plus the idea of a preacher walking the Earth like Quai Chang Caine is just appealing. But against the Mechanoids, the Coalition, the Xiticix I want to play the super-soldier. That and a meeting between this character and the Megaversal Legion, the New Navy, and/or Freedom Station would be interesting. So your verdict, ladies and gentlemen? Angel or Super-Soldier?
