For goodness sakes, look at the dissent between the various conversions of Dark Sun! There are like 4 or 5 conversions, NOW two of them are "official," and some gamers don't like ANY of them. If you want to play an older setting, you have three choices:1) Use the old rules (best option to me)'2) Cobble your own rules to your group's liking. (2nd best option),3) Find a conversion you like at least 60% of, and use it. (worst option).Me, I liked Athas.org's take on Dark Sun, and if I ever play it, I'll use it. But other settings are best left to fan conversions, and WotC really should lax their restrictions on those, because that's the ONLY place fans will find complete satisfaction - in twelves different conversions of each setting so they can pick what the want. The Average gamer may well not mess with ANY old setting.</blockquote>
