Message: <blockquote data-quote="MaxKaladin" data-source="post: 1299791" data-attributes="member: 1196">I'd also suggest the Arylin Moonblade Forgotten Realms books by Elaine Cunningham.  I don't think there's anything inappropriate in there.  There's a strong female main protagonist, action, G-rated romance and so on.  I also liked the Wyvern's Spur trilogy.  It's not very violent, has a male protagonist but he's more of the entertainingly silly upper class twit than the hypercompetant warrior with the mighty muscles or anything like that and has (Olive?) the halfling thief, er, Bard who gets turned into a donkey for a while with entertaining results.  Thinking about it, its kinda like a "Jeeves and Wooster" story set in the Forgotten Realms.  The first book can be read alone as I recall.  There is one thing you will probably have to explain though:  One of the running gags in the book is that there are no halfling bards.  This is a D&D in-joke as these books were written when 2nd edition was current and there were no halfling bards then.  This one will go right over the head of someone raised on 3e.</blockquote>
