Which laptop should I buy?

Also, Apples may not have worked well in a business environment 6 years ago, but now they rule the roost. Totally compatible.

Compatible? Yes. Productive? Not yet. Unless your business happens to involve Adobe products.

... does MS Office run on OSX? Just curious; it would be interesting to see a Microsoft flagship product on BSD...

OK, I've been looking at buying a new laptop as well, but I want one almost entirely for gaming and playing DVDs. So, what are some of the better ones out there? Now that Battle for Middle Earth is out, I'd like to be able to play it (my current computers certainly won't). What are some of the better graphics cards out there?

I'll reiterate my earlier statement because it was a bit buried. If you want a gaming laptop, Alien Ware is the only one, really. They literally don't even have competitors for their market.

Don't worry so much about the a particular graphics card if you want it for one particular game. Usually, games are programmed with a single graphics card in mind. Find out what Battle for Middle Earth is designed to work best with (check the box) and use that. That said, buying a graphics card is pretty simple. The more you spend, the better the card will be. There really isn't any weird pricing or killer technology that makes a card a "good deal". You drop dollars, you play pretty game. That's it.

I'm glad somebody pointed it out. The idea of dealing with Macs in an enterprize environment makes me shudder.

That is no longer the case.

While Alienware was the first to target the "mobile gaming market" (whatever that is) they are no longer alone in that niche now. Voodoo, Falcon Northwest, Hypersonic and even Dell have agressively moved into the segment.

Office

Yes MS Office works on a Mac with OSX (except for Access which isn't on the Mac verson) and in my opinion on working on both Office for Windows and Office for Mac, the Mac is far better. Working on my thesis, I use Office X on my laptop and I only use Origin 7.0 on my desktop which is a PC running Windows XP and Knoppix.
