That's part of it. The "Behind the Spells" pdf series tells you about the spell's creator, the secrets of the spell, and what other spells or items have been inspired by it (all from the perspective of a gold dragon narrator named Maxolt). When Maxolt discuss the creator of the spell, it usually involves the "why" behind it, yes. When I originally conceived this series, I wanted to not only expand on the usabilty of the PHB spells but to have a little bit of fiction on which plot hooks could be hung. The "spell secrets" section gives rules for how a caster can tweak the spell. Sometimes this follows the rules as written and sometimes I give the spell some cool uses on my own. The last section, "related research," provides one or more new spells/items that spin off of the main spell's purpose. Sometimes these echo the Creator backstory and sometimes not. That's the series in a nutshell. You get all of this on a weekly basis clocking in around 2,000 words and each costs a dollar. The only exception is last week's Wish & Limited Wish which I decided to combine for obvious reasons. I'll likely do the same with the cure spells, etc. Since I have no long-term plans for the series' development, I'm always taking suggestions for which spell to cover next. Thanks for the thread!
