How I spent my summer while EN World was on vacation Right before EN World crashed, I had decided to give myself a month vacation (a sort of self-imposed ban if you will) from here because, to be honest, the place was starting to get to me. All I could see was the never-ending edition bashing, ridiculous warped sense of gamer entitlement threads asking for everything from corporate sales figures to credentials from anyone daring to post their opinion about anything, and a lot of oversensitivity and complaining, and this made me want to unconstructively reply to everything with snark in return. Even the mods seemed to be getting snarkier, but in retrospect I can totally see how they would get burned out by the constant babysitting they have to do for us in threads of late (and I'm sure I didn't help them with that either). So for sanity's sake I had decided to limit myself to lurking and visiting only the news page and the publisher's forum. It wasn't until EN World was totally unreachable at all that I recalled all the great things about this place I'd seemed to have forgotten. While it certainly isn't perfect, EN World is still, all things considered, a great resource and one of the better online communities. I'd forgotten that for awhile, but I'm glad I had the chance to be reminded. That's what I'll remember about the EN World [s]Crash[/s] Vacation of 2009. So, if I've offended you, I sincerely apologize. If you've offended me, forget about it - water under the bridge. I promise to start ignoring the topics and threads that get under my skin, and live and let live. I ask everyone to just try to get along, think before you post (I've instituted a count to twenty rule before I click Submit Reply rule for myself), and remember above all, this is a game and a hobby, meant to be FUN. I think we all forget that sometimes. B-)
