Thanks for all the info. guys, the help is greatly appreciated. I hadn't heard about the changes to the whip in 3.5... Darklone, appreciate the tip...i'll need to take a look at my copy of Quint. Fighter again. Those changes lead me to one more question (Since by the time I play this character we will be using 3.5). Looking at the Lasher, it seems to me that nothing would really need to be changed. If the whip becomes a reach weapon that provokes, it seems that the ability to use a whip without provoking would still apply as well as being able to threaten within 5'. Does it seem to you folks that it would still be able to work? (If so, I must say that i'm impressed that they were able to make such a change without causing another mess in the splat book) Also, would you folks have any suggestions as far as builds go leading up to this prestige? I may only end up taking the prestige for 3 levels in order to get some of the goodies and then go back to normal classing in order to keep building the sword as well. In our campaigns, we only allow one prestige per character until the character has finished the prestige. Right now, i'm thinking the following: 1st- Rog1- Ambidexterity, Exotic Weap: Whip 2nd- Rog1/Ftr1- Two-Weapon Fighting 3rd- Rog1/Ftr2- Weap. Focus: Whip, Weap. Focus: Sword 4th- Rog2/Ftr2- 5th- Rog2/Ftr3- 6th- Rog2/Ftr4- Weap.Spec: Whip, Weap. Spec: Sword 7th- Rog3/Ftr4- 8th- Rog3/Ftr4/Lash1- 9th- Rog3/Ftr4/Lash2- (Imp. Trip with whip) 10th- Rog3/Ftr4/Lash3- etc. 32 pt. character btw The thing i'm unsure of is whether I should try and keep my Dex and Str pretty balanced and not use weapon finesse or whether I should look at using weapon finesse. This would also determine whether I used a short sword or a scimitar in my main hand. Any comments or ideas are appreciated. Also, have any of you heard whether or not they are going to roll ambi&two-weapon into one feat like they did in d20 modern? I actually kind of hope not...since I think them doing that would remind me of 2nd ed when EVERYONE was dual weilding. Thanks for all the answers so far guys.
