White Robes, Black Hearts: Enigma of the Arcanexus

Knightfall

World of Kulan DM
Hey all,

This is my little plug for the adventure I co-wrote with Darrin Drader and Tony Bounds of Dark Portal Games called White Robes, Black Hearts: Enigma of the Arcanexus. The print version of the adventure is due out in September and you may have noticed an ad for it in the latest issue of Dungeon Magazine (inside the cover for the Polyhedron side of the magazine).

Pre-order yours today from your local retailer (and tell all your friends). Here is the ISBN for the product.

Can you give some information on the module? What levels is it for? What's the basic plotline? Is it a dungeon exploration, a city mystery, or a wilderness journey?

The short answer is yes. 112 pages with a mix of all of the above. There are 4 separate dungeon locations, and it is set against the backdrop of a the Lands of Arekoz campaign setting. The following brief write-up is posted at our website:

Our first popular commercial adventure is going to print. Complete with new cover art and new content.
The sovereign kingdom Calrendia has been conquered by the Empire of Mhul. As freedom fighters amass under new leadership, the PCs are asked to undergo a dangerous quest to unearth an item that will expose the very source of Mhul's power. Their journey will take them through one of the largest cities in Arekoz, into a most unusual mausoleum, through the badlands of Gamarr, and beyond.

WHITE ROBES, BLACK HEARTS: ENIGMA OF THE ARCANEXUS is for 4-6 characters (about party level 5), and it is almost vital to the adventure for a party to include a wizard or sorcerer, and a rogue.

Just some kudos to an Edmontonian. I moved to Calgary from Edmonton a couple years ago after living there for 10. Is Dark Portal Games also based in Edmonton? If so, I'd like to chat about some things...

Technically DPG is based out of Alaska. though in reality we are pretty spread out and we do most of our work on the internet. I live in Tacoma WA and presently work for WotC. Tony lives in Alaska and works as an electrician, and Michael lives in New York and does numerous things. Also, we have freelancers from all over doing projects for us.

Thanks uv23

As Darrin stated, DPGs is officially located in Alaska where Tony is from. I'm not 'officially' with Dark Portal Games but enjoyed freelancing for them and would do it again in a heartbeat.

IMO, DPG has shown itself to be a solid d20 company. Keep your eye on them. I think they'll surprise you.

Thanks Cheiromancer! So whereabouts are you in Edmonton?

There are so few of us on this messageboard. uv23 used to live in Edm but says he moved to Calgary, so he doesn't really count. Just kidding uv23! :p
