White Wolf hacked

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place......

When I try to access judgesguild.com I get a message stating that White Wolf has been hacked and the hackers are trying to extort money from the company in exchange for not exposing private user info. Anybody know what's up with that? Does White Wolf own the judgesguild.com website?

I believe Necromancer Games does, and White Wolf publishes Necromancer Games stuff.

Necromancer Games and the Judges Guild (.com) websites are hosted on the WW servers.

As I understand it, the WW servers got cracked.

To the best of my knowledge, DTRPG is a separate company with separate servers and completely different security.

The concern is that people use the same password(s) for multiple accounts. Eventually encryption on the pwords can be broken. They have the email addresses, encrypted pwords, and information like that. If you use the same pword and email address for a place like, say, Amazon, then you could eventually have a problem. From what I heard, WW doesn't think they have any Credit Card info (that was handled differently) but if they find out differently I am sure they will come forward and let everyone know. The big thing is, if you re-use the same password all of the time and have credit card info stored at a storefront of some sort then you could be in trouble.

You would be amazed how many people use the same pword for virtually everything they do.

Edit: when I said "email addresses, encrypted pwords," I meant the email address you would have given to register for one of their forums or accounts and the pword for that forum or account, not the pword to that mail box (unless you used the same one).
-my only excuse for being incoherent is that I haven't really slept since Sat. due to sick kids. ;)

Well, considering pretty much every website needs a password, and a person might visit 100s of them, it's almost hard not to use the same one. Because if they have a hundred, how can you remember them all? Or remember which is which? I only use about 5 different ones, and I can never remember which one is which.

This kind of situation just sucks all-around mainly because it creates paranoia and probably uncalled for stress.....I blame myself and the affected sites for being so damn insecure, and the hackers for the rest.
