Race all human, not count CH, core-rule (PHB+DMG+MM).

Who is the best Assassin?
 

My money is on the Druid, even though you're "nerfing" it with those Ranger and Assassin levels. A pure Druid would be nastier by far.
 


"assassin" - Having levels in a PrC called Assassin isn't required

I was going with...

* ability to get in unnoticed
* make the kill
* leave little to no evidence (The King was mauled by a bear in his sleep?)
* get out unnoticed or quickly if your attempt was detected

Assassin know ture strike can use to mount change.

and know Alter self, +6 AC. only wiz/sor, brd and asn know the spell, it is a good spell.

2D6 Sneak Attack is better.
 

Rogue (or Spellthief) 1 Wizard 5 Unseen Seer 10 Arcane Trickster 4. You can prepare for virtually any possibility with your wizard spells, have a good selection of non-magical skills, and be decent enough with the sneak attacking (if absolutely required...it shouldn't be).

As for druids, do you seriously think that in a world where people can turn into animals that unknown cats walking through the halls will be unquestioned, or that people won't figure out a druid mauled the king?

No it's not. It is a broken spell, and I doubt any sane DM with a bit of experience would allow everything with it. I mean, Pun-Pun is based on Alter Self, y'know...
