Message: <blockquote data-quote="Celebrim" data-source="post: 3801510" data-attributes="member: 4937">In theory.  But I think 'not fond of' doesn't cover what would be required to make me reject something outright.  It's more like 'completely offended by'.   Tiefling doesn't quite cut it; it isn't anything I want to see in the core rules, but by itself wouldn't make me reject a book just because of its inclusion.'Tome of Magic' was potentially quite interesting to me because it contained an extensive section on True Names, which have always been in theory important to my homebrew.  One of the flavor elements of my homebrew is that all languages are corrupted forms of the same original true langauge 'Primal' and that spells work because they are in this language.  If you knew how to speak Primal fluently, then you could do almost anything (the universe was created by an unknown creator singing in Primal).  So, I've always wanted to have good true name rules, but have never found mechanics I'm happy with.  In theory, this could have been something for me to get excited about.  But even had the 'True Name' rules been everything I could have wanted, I would have never bought the book because I found the Binder to be so utterly offensive (worse than anything in the Book of Vile Darkness which I wasn't too happy with either for different reasons).  Some things cut too closely to real world religious and occult practice, and I don't appreciate that.  I'd much rather keep the game just a game.</blockquote>
