Why are non-caster Ranger themes so popular?

Though I'd just start with giving ranger the Herbalist kit tool proficiency.</p><p></p><p>At that point, it's then easy to imagine a variety of pills, poultices, and potions that could reasonably be crafted and used to counter many problematic status conditions. Maybe they even come with drawbacks (eg: a berserk potion to counter fear which basically just reverses all the fear effects could be just as dangerous in its own way).</p><p></p><p>But once you have the idea, it's not hard to implement.
