Why Didn't This Ever Catch On?

I too have colored my old monsterous compediums looseleaf pages. I used color pencil, and hell I love the work I did.

I think my friend thought I was insane at first, but then we looked and said hey that looks better. Even a little bit of color went a long way.

I know some companies like SS make monster books (is that them??) in black and white, though I haven't picked any up yet, if I do I will grab my coloring pencils and go to work.

Anyway, my 2 coppers.

Yeah, I used to doodle and colour in the old books. The artwork in the new ones isn't neccesarily better or worse, I just don't really like it.. OR the feel of the books.
The old 1E/2E books FELT like tomes of knowledge, these new ones are just... too plasticy. and shiney.

I don't know maybe I'm just an old coot (HAHA.. at 20?), but I prefer the feel and look of the older books.

So to actually have this post make sense and be relevant to the topic: I think they should've made the pages the same material and left some of the stuff for us to colour ourselves.

Man, I think I still have those laying around somewhere :)

I gotta say, those coloring books well and truly developed the way I thought about DnD when I was young.

I have too many nieces and nephews to keep crayons from lasting more than an hour in my house. Which is bad, because right now, I too, want to color...

I think Elmore must have missed the coloring book too.
He just came out with one about a month ago.
:D

Larry Elmore
It also comes with a disk for you to print your own to color any way you want. You can also use the computer to color them as well.
Enjoy,
Darius
