I can understand lots of players love to choose "evil" species for their PCs because it is like wearing a monster costume in Halloween or wearing the supervillain cosplay in a comic-con but I have seen too many pictures with tielflings instead aasimars. I guess the key is to introduce the right characters to promote the "secondary" PC species, for example a gnome with the charisma of Tyrion Lannister or an aasimar like the female main character from your favorite reincarnation manghwa. Instead to be showed like clones of Disney princesses aasimars could be like the genius child who suffers the syndrome of tall puppies, or a background like the Stark noble house from "Game of Thrones". If you create the perfect romantasy story where one of the main couples is an aasimar, and this could earn a lot of popularity. Lucillion, a secondary character from the manghwa "I am raised by the villains" (I recommend it) could be inspiration or an example of aasimar character. He may seem naive or dumb when you meet him the first time but he has got a golden heart and he is a totally loyal friend and valious ally for the main character. Other character as source of inspiration to roleplay an aassimar would be the police Masamichi Vega from Dandadan. The first time you meet him it seems a very serious man, almost unfriendly but when you know his story and his past, and his efforts for a better future he becomes one of your favorite cops. You take off your hat to him as a sign of respect. Bamora, the alien with a kaiju cosplay armour from Dandadan, it is other example of how to roleplay an aasimar. In the past gnomes weren't so popular because there were "typecasted" to be or rogues or illusionists and I guess the changes about racial traits were with the intention this happened again with gnomes and other PC species. Kinta Sakata(Dandadan) could be other example of how a gnome could be a ridiculous and fun comic supporting character but also enoughly interesting to the the heroe within his own adventure
