I hate the 5e Players Handbook for infecting everything with crappy polytheistic flavor, even to the point of baking its flavor into hard mechanics. It ubiquitous. Even the minimalist Basic D&D pdf mentions ‘gods’, ‘deities’, including reallife polytheism like the gods of Egypt by name, or the Hellenistic gods by name − dozens and dozens and dozens of times.So far, D&D 5e is the opposite of setting neutral.
