Why hasn't anyone done...

... a point-based system conversion of 3ednd?

It seems like it would be easy enough to convert the whole (or major parts) of third edition Dungeons & Dragons into a point-based system.

I can see that Matt Blakeley has started the ball rolling with "The Elements of Magic" but what about the other d20 "subsystem?"

...or am I missing something here?

I don't think it would be very easy, to be honest. A number of people have attempted it, and I haven't liked any of the attempts that I've looked at (mainly fan sites).

Perhaps it's a task you feel you might be able to handle? Why not send a publisher a proposal (EN Publishing would be interested, for sure). I do think it'd be a much larger task then you think, though I'd be happy to be proved wrong!

I _do_ have something put together that actually integrates with "The Elements of Magic." I talked with Matt about it and he said that it would be OK to publish it under "The Elements of Monsters."

If you're interested, Russ, I can send you the work-in-progress if you want to look at it and tell me what a lame job I did ;)

You'd be best off talking to Rangerwickett rather than myself - he's much more adept at manipulating game mechanics than I (which is why he tends to deal with authors instead of me). His email is rangerwickett@hotmail.com.
