Wouldn't it have been cool if WotC had allowed our FLGS to sell 3.5 a week early, or even just a few days early?
The folks ordering from Amazon and Wal-mart et. al., for the most part, are happy to wait a little longer to get a big discount. And it would be a big "thank you" to the FLGS. Many people who don't frequent a FLGS would make the trip, even if it meant driving a few hours.
Is this sort of staggered distribution date possible? I don't play any of the card games, so I don't know if this happens when they release new booster packs and such.
Movies do special previews, and one could almost think that WotC has allowed a certain amount of "leaks" to drum up interest.
