Well, I have never played Werewolf, but I have GMed it. A lot ! It's one of my favourite WW games, actually, and my gaming background is anything but hack n' slash. What did I like in Werewolf ? I liked the fact that the spirit world was an important aspect of the game. The first campaign I ran with the UK lasted 6 sessions of so and described the pack's spirit quest. Amusingly enough, the references made above by Barastrondo aren't the ones I read in Werewolf. I've always thought of the game being heavily "native american" in feel. Cardboard cutout native american, obviously, but it's a RPG, not a thesis ! All the tribes, even the "European" ones have this feel to their organisation. The tribal politics is great, because it's very different from the politics in Vampire or any other game : you can't just go up there and tell someone they're wrong : there are traditions to respect ! Also the fact the tribes all agree on the dire situation but disagree on what to do... In fact, I like most everything with werewolf. The only thing I dislike is the combat system. Buckeloads of dice to either rip someone's head off (a normal human ?) or do nothing (another werewolf...) Same thing with NPCs hitting werewolves : either they do no damage (no silver) or they bring em down in one blow (they have silver) It's too binary for my tastes. Still, a very enjoyable game and one of the least depressing WW games if you get heavily into it !
