Psionics metamagic feats are cheaper becouse of the point cap. A psion can never spend more points than his level, and metamagic counts toward that cap. A wizard does not have that cap. A 10th level wizard can cast an empowered fireball for 15d6 damage using up a fifth level slot. A 10th level Kineticist can toss a 10d6 energy ball or a 12d6 empowered energy ball. The advantage is that the psion save DC will be 2-3 higher, and they can chose an energy type on the fly.</blockquote>
