I like what a lot of folks would call an upper to mid level of complexity in my games (I would put 5e in that realm). Where I love to invest time is preparing for play. A lot of my enjoyment comes from painting miniatures, preparing scenery, creating props, designing maps, and making other play aids. I'm old and have run enough games to wing it with very little prep time and my players typically enjoy those games, but it is less enjoyable for me.For others the very thought of going through all of this prep for an adventure would be a major drag.I love indy games for one shots, but for longer campaigns there has to be a certain level of complexity for me to continue to enjoy it.</blockquote>
