Wild armor/shields...

Dwarmaj

First Post
From SRD:
Wild: The wearer of a suit of armor or a shield with this ability preserves his armor bonus (and any enhancement bonus) while in a wild shape. Armor and shields with this ability usually appear to be made covered in leaf patterns. While the wearer is in a wild shape, the armor cannot be seen.
Moderate transmutation; CL 9th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, baleful polymorph; Price +3 bonus.

Do armor check penalties or non-proficiency penalties apply? The armor is melded and the enchantment only states that you get the armor/shield AC bonus along with it's enchantment bonus. The Wild enhancement seems to allow Druids to use Fullplate and tower shields that they're not proficient with.

Why would you assume so?

I agree that they probably should, but while they are melded they in no way restrict the characters movements or even count toward encumberance. The Wild enhancement allows the owner to gain the sheild/armor armor class bonuses.

Pricey yes.

Proficiency, no. Just wild shape. The penalties don't apply to you, only the armor and enhancement bonuses shine through.

Who cares if you're not proficient?

What about when you're not Wild Shaped? I don't recall Wild Shape having that long of a duration. I'd hate to spend that much on a nice suit of non-metal armor (gives the finger to rust monsters) that grants a +13 to AC and not be able to wear it all the time.

well, by the time you can afford this (and gotten the dragonhide, and all that), you'll have some 4 or 5 uses of Wild Shape a day, lasting for 1 hour/ level each.

Plenty of time.

If your DM allows Ease from MotW, put that on too. Easier to wear, and you can sleep in it.
