Seeking prey On silent feet, Slinking unseen, Hunters prowl, Nervously watchful, Ready to run, At first sign of hunter, Others abound Be you prey or predator? Question to apprentice guides. Camouflaged of coat, and armed to the teeth the big cat is a dangerous adversary. Many in number and dangerously intelligent, the tenacious wolf is even more dangerous. Small and swift with sharp teeth, the weasel is no less a dangerous than its larger brethren, just not to us, just its’ prey. These are some of the hunters, the predators, and we are their prey. For the unprepared and the unwary these creatures are be deadly adversaries. Yet to a some they are not enemies but brothers and sisters in the great family of nature, dangerous, true but no threat. A little winds and rain can make a traveller uncomfortable yet gales and hurricanes can be deadly. The weather is nature at it’s most wild, and those venturing out unprotected are asking to never be seen again. Yet to some these manifesta tions of natures emotions are merely irritations to be borne, rather than suffered. Wilderness Guide, Wilderness Scout and Wildmen, each knows his or her place in nature, and has nothing to fear, even where rangers fear to tread. These individuals are not just people they are part of nature in a way others can not even begin to understand, except possibly druids. Home is not the house or cave, dry or wet, home for these people is the places where people are not. Where natures voice can be heard and her emotions felt. These are the wilderness masters But not the only ones Tales tell of the brothers to the bird, men so bound up with their ‘pet’ bird, that telling them apart is like discerning two peas from the same pod. Of men so entangled with their animal companion that they are more at home with them than with their own family. Of women striking in every way, in beauty and stature, whose other form is that of a swan. Are you ready to join their ranks? Do you crave to be more than a fighter with skills in uncivilised lands? Well if you do come in and be welcome for this is your chance to learn what it is to be a true wilderness adept.
