D&D 5E Wildshape check: am I doing it right?

NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.

If you’re arguing that something listed under the TRAIT section of a race description is not a racial trait, then we’ve truly entered into bizarro world.
I never said that, you're just putting words in my mouth.

And yet again, you ignore all the other disqualifies as listed not only in the same book, or same section, but literally the second half of the same sentence that says you keep features.
I didn't include that part of the paragraph because it was not relevant. Breath weapon is not a special sense.

So I’m not sure why you keep arguing and saying I’m wrong. You do not always get those features. It’s entirely circumstantial. And literally says so in the same sentence.
Because you are. Either your English is not up to par, or you're just dense. That paragraph was very clear: Retain all class/race features with 2 exceptions: 1. Physically impossible to do; 2. Special senses.

I never said that, you're just putting words in my mouth.

When I say that darkvision is a racial trait/feature because it's listed under the trait list of that race, and you disagree and say it's not, then I am not putting words in your mouth when I summarize your position as arguing that something listed under a racial trait list is not a racial trait. That is literally what you are doing when you say it's not a racial feature/trait despite it being listed as a racial feature/trait.

I didn't include that part of the paragraph because it was not relevant. Breath weapon is not a special sense.

When I say, "you don't always get those things" and then list off several examples, and you say I'm wrong, then it very much is relevant. Because many of those things I listed in my original response directly apply to that last half of the sentence where it says there are limitations. My position is that you don't always get those features, and you said that's wrong. Well, it's not. It's right there in black and white. You can't just hand wave it away like it doesn't exist and try to claim it's not relevant when it's literally at the core of this whole debate.

And what is with your hang up with the word "sense"? There is nowhere in the book where it states senses are different from racial features. You said p4 of the basic rulebook, but it says nothing of the sort. Give me a quote, and a page #. Darkvision, in the book, is listed under the racial traits section. That quite literally means it's a racial trait/feature because that's where it is listed.

Because you are. Either your English is not up to par, or you're just dense. That paragraph was very clear: Retain all class/race features with 2 exceptions: 1. Physically impossible to do; 2. Special senses.

And more insults. At least you're consistent. See? Right here, you're admitting that you don't always get those features. So what in the world are you arguing with me for? That was my whole point. The OP did not mention any of these exceptions, that was the point of my original post. You said earlier that you only responded because you didn't want to mislead people. Well, the OP's post was misleading because it didn't mention these very important exceptions.

I mean, go look at the part you just quoted and then your response:

Me: You don't always get these features. There are exceptions.
You: You're wrong. You get those features, except these exceptions.

Your intellect is truly baffling. You are saying I'm wrong and literally saying the same thing I said. Wow.
