Wildshape: Save DCs for special attacks

When a druid wildshapes into a creature with a special attack that allows a save (typically with a DC of 10 + 1/2 HD + applicable ability modifier), what is used for the HD, the HD of the emulated creature or the druid's level?

The DC for most special attacks is 10 + 1/2 racial HD + applicable ability modifier.

The druid's level grants class hit dice, not racial hit dice.

Since the druid retains his own hit points, as written, the hit dice of the emulated creature are irrelevant. A human druid would have a DC of 10 + 1/2 0 + ability mod; a monstrous druid would have a DC of 10 + 1/2 his own racial HD + ability mod.

On the other hand, a recent FAQ entry suggested that when using polymorph-type magic, you use the HD of the emulated creature for determining save DCs, and also to determine if you are vulnerable to spells with a HD dependency.

So a human wizard-18 shapechanged into an ogre would be considered to have 4HD (not 18) when seeing if he's affected by a Sleep spell, or how he's affected by a Blasphemy spell (Killed, paralyzed, weakened, dazed instead of just dazed, for example).

Of course, the FAQ entry was recently altered to make even less sense.
