Will Unearthed Arcana have a non-miniatures/grid combat system?

I'm dying to know. Will Unearthed Arcana have a variant combat system that doesn't require miniatures/grid . . . that is, a combat system with more abstract movement a la 2E?

I'd be surprised. But if you took AoEs out fo the gamewpouldn't it remove the need for the grid anyway? If you even needed on to start with?

No. Feats, spells, and other assorted rules necessitate some sort of physical representation if you want to do it accurately.

Except that many groups, mine being one of them, represent these things perfectly accurately without any kind of grid. No real change of rules is needed, just a shift of perception. It becomes a more descriptive game, and one in which you move towards intent than direct actions.

Well, I don't want to start another "miniatures/gird requirement" argument. I've been in too many, lately. Let's just agree to disagree and be cool

Works for me. :)

But on the non-opinioned side, no I haven't heard a thing about non-grid type rules in UA.
