As someone who's lived (and currently living) in Wisconsin, I'd have to drop a few nice factoid: - Having a town declaired a city pretty much just requires 4 bars and a church. It used to require 6 bars, but we're trying to improve our image. - The UW System has tendrils everywhere. I swear, half of Madison Proper is UW...If you need a good college town, my brother went to UW Whitewater campus, and there's not much else there unless you drive down to Janesville or up to Madison. - Mount Horeb, WI claims to be the Troll capital of the world. And they have Black Firetrucks. - Politically, it is a mixed state - pretty much half liberal progressive and half republican conservative. In fact, the Liberal Progressive movement has it's roots in the Madison area. - One of the handy things about Madison is that it is smack dab in the middle of a bunch of lakes. Google map it - you can easily set up a limited area of operation to the UW campus and downtown area. There are also no skyscrapers in the area, because of a local building ordinence that prevents the obstruction of the Capitol dome. There is no subway system in Madison, but there is a bus system. - Last I heard Madison had a fairly strong indie music scene, but my information may be a few years out of date. - Southern Wisconsin has a lot of small, podunk towns that are rather close together. Some of these commmunities are a cluster of houses sometimes less than a mile away. - We have a few caves, and we have a lot of campgrounds. - Devil's Lake State Park would make a great setting for anything. It has bluffs, cliffs, woods, a lake, and (most importaintly) an appropriate name Media with Wisconsin in it: - That Seventies Show was set in Steven's Point, WI. The early episodes, at least, seem fairly accurate. - Ever seen Bobby's World? His mom was from Wisconsin, don'tcha know. - Da Turdy Point Buck and pretty much anything from the group Bananas At Large is relatively, painfully, accurate. Sigh. Of course, this means that you'll probably have to encorporate Betty Lou - a combination AK 57 oozie radar laser triple-barrel double-scoped heat-seekin shotgun.
