Witch Hunter Robin DVD

Dark Psion

First Post
I noticed that next month, Witch Hunter Robin: The Complete Series is coming out and that made me wonder, what happened to it?

The Cartoon Channel showed it all, but just as they started runing repeats, they stoped and I haven't seen it since. I had heard it was coming back to the weekday schedule, but while the Adult Swim site still list it, it has nothing on when it will be on.

Didn't someone have an inside source to the Cartoon channel and could they find out if it is coming back?

Didn't Cartoon Network run the entire series before starting on the repeats? I thought it just kind of ended.

I have to say (well, I don't HAVE to), I couldn't get into this series. I really tried - I watched almost the entire season, but as the show went on I couldn't figure it out. All of a sudden Robin's team talks about how they have to start hunting her because they found out she's a witch. But... didn't the massive "Firestarter" magic she was using in episode 1 kind of give them a big freakin' clue? :\

Yeah, but I missed a couple.

They knew she was a "Craft User", but they thought she was just a pawn. They forgot what happens when a pawn reaches the other side of the chess board.

I found this series via On Demand and then rented the DVDs on Netflix. There are 6 discs containing 26 episodes. No idea if or when Cartoon Network is going to rerun it.

I enjoyed this series a lot but it does start slow. My understanding of what happens is
the STN essentialy uses witches to hunt other witches. In Robin's case she is a craft user which means she has stronger powers than some of the others. For example, Kurasuma can pick up vibes from objects. At a point in the series (maybe episode 6 or 7), the STN sends someone to Japan to determine if another craft user could be used to hunt witches. This person is also secretly spying on Robin. He sees her track down and destroy a witch. He then reports that Robin enjoys using her powers to much and, by killing that particular witch, has crossed the line. Robin is now considered a witch rather than a craft user and now must be hunted.

The series plot is fairly complex and somewhat confusing but it does make sense by the end of the series.

Without getting into serious spoilers, it's pretty obvious that Somebody wants to collect witches, not kill them. If they happened to be working for STNJ (the very guys who collect them), fine. When the time came, Somebody planned to collect the witches within the STNJ starting with the most powerful one, Robin. Things went wrong, and Robin turned out to have more friends than Somebody expected. A LOT more!
