Wiz & Sor Only played a sorceror twice. The first time my Cleric of Helm was aged 60 years by the ghost of a black dragon and because his physical attributes went down 6 each and (at the time) all his mental attributes went up 3 each i asked the dm if I could multiclass as a sorceror since i was curious to see how it worked. He chose all the spells my character knew and for a short time my character went without wearing his suit of half plate armour. That is until every creature we ran across had an enormous attack bonus ( My cleric was at the time 7th level as a cleric and 1st level as a sorceror) so back went on the armour and started making pretty much 80-90% of the arcane spell failure rolls had to be persuaded to continue as a cleric even though the dm later turned round and said my character's church considered my character corrupted when trying to cure him of the aging was told it would cost 28,000gp and when he went back with the money a game year later was told there wasn't anyone who could cast it! The second was a halfling sorceror who I planned around a minature a friend painted for me as he said it looked like a sorceror/druid... so I gave him a backstory to explain why he was going to multiclass. The dm later said sorcerors needed to gain their new spells from wizards and up to the point the game ended so we could play something else my sorceror had reached 3rd level and had to pick up Read Magic and Identify the first because I needed it to read the scrolls the character would learn her spells from and the second because we needed a cheaper way of identifying the magical items we found. There's more to the story but it isn't relevant to this thread. In that second case by the way he gave us a couple of months to create our characters and I was the first to pass him my character, so everyone pretty much knew I was running a sorceror so I was very surprised to find I was the only arcane spellcaster the closest thing to this was a bard run by another player who stopped coming after a while but that was due to favourtism shown to the paladin's player ( Stop there!) As it stood when the game ended I was deciding between multiclassing instead as a ranger instead of a druid since there was one in the party but there was also two other players running rangers one a dwarven fighter/ranger and the other an elven ranger a survivor of a pair of rangers run by new players, had he continued I would have probably multiclassed as a specialist wizard most likely an abjurer given how many of our foes were undead or possessing spirits and the fact I tend towards playing the party protector ( I usually run cleric's the last wizard i ran was under 2nd edition and he died from whiplash (from a fall whilst tied to a rope...)) I have yet to run a character under 3.5 although I have dmed games in that system and had a wife of a friend run a sorceror in a couple of games the character was getting to resemble Naga from Slayers but thats another story...
