But that's not what they are discussing; they are discussing the time taken by abilities that create multiple rolls and checks. Even in that example, some of the rolls have nothing to do with damage (stunning strike attempts and saving throws). I don't know what term you want to use to describe that more nuanced problem, but it isn't DPS because: A) DPS already has a very well established meaning (and the analogous term used in a TTRPG, DPR, is also well established), and B) Damage dealing is only part of the issue.</blockquote>
