Wolfgang Bauer to take Dungeoncraft Helm

James Jacobs noted in Dungeon 141 "From the Editor" that Monte Cook is retiring from writing the Dungeoncraft column. It's an end of an era really. First Ray Winninger, now Monte Cook. Past Dungeon Editor and Alumnus Wolfgang Bauer is taking over the helm. I think it's a great choice.

And I just subscribed too. Considering WB's articles on the WOTC site of late, I can only say that he should be up to the task.

And considering the articles he's been posting in his Custom Adventure Project, I am very much looking forward to the addition of his Dungeoncraft columns.

He even asks us which topic we'd like him to write for the project (and noted some are likely to appear as Dungeoncraft columns). How can you not get excited about such topics as "Caught in the Open: Designing Great Combats Without Walls" or "Designing Mysteries Big or Small." He's stated some of the topics he's given us as options are likely to appear as Dungeoncraft columns. This project he's already given us columns on writing Planar Adventures and creating Chase Scenes. Best $10 I've spent on a gaming product so far (except for "Steam & Brass") and I haven't even seen the product yet.

I am a big fan of Wolfgang Baur's custom adventure project (www.wolfgangbaur.com)

Some of the freebies you get as a member are the cool articles he posts. His articles on various aspects of adventure design (for project members only) have been invaluable to me. His last article on designing planar adventures was awesome. He will do a fantastic job with the Dungeoncraft column. Dungeon readers are in for a real treat!

I'm constantly amazed that more people haven't signed up for his custom adventure project.

I'd rather Bauer do Dark*Matter Craft.

I really wish that Ray Winninger (sp?) wrote more of those Dungeoncraft columns. They really did provide a great insight into designing your own campaign world.

Going from Monte from Wolfgang is really keeping the bar at a high level. I look forward to his articles.
