I'm running a PF campaign set in an ice age. Obviously, there's a lot of snow on the ground.
I'm using many of the environmental rules from Frostburn (3.5 edition). One rule deals specifically with how much different depths of snow hamper the movement rates of creatures depending on their sizes.
The Bestiary entry for wolves mentions their broad feet aiding them in travel over snowy terrain. I've ruled that wolves (and some other creatures native to snowy terrain for whom speed is important, like reindeer) count as being one size category larger than their actual size for purposes of determining the speed reducing effects of snowy terrain.
Not really asking a question here because I think my ruling works well (and comes up often because the party halfling ranger rides his wolf companion).
Just letting the world know, I guess.
