Well, not that long, but creatures with names like a Medusa, and Pegasus, and Kraken and griffon and hydra were all familiar. So, i didn't learn THEM from D&D, but then there's bugbear, hobgoblin, troglodyte, lich, wight, ghast and a bunch of others that are in the dictionary. I learned years later that these were real words. At least you can see where the authors inferred their meaning. "Lich" refers often to a body, or a place associated with where dead are buried, like a "lich gate" or "lich wall".</blockquote>
