The light of Ra’al rising over the eastern horizon orders the night to its end and morning to the Isthmus of Eos. Dewed grass shivers in the rocky lime cliffs of Vang as the darkness hides, lingering in fissures and crevices on the crusted landscapes of the Island Vastus. Ra’al’s rays dry the mist and warm the thick forests and fertile fields of Paladana, while crisp breezes swirl through the high trees on the Hills of Kiir. The desolate wastes in the Desert of Esteril broil under the steady eye of Ra’al, and it is soon sweltering in the thick jungles of Zarh. Gorged on a feast of light, the now blinding-white sand of the beaches on southern Latos become beacons to the trade ships sailing north on Selva Mar, carrying their goods from Gim and Scopula. As Ra’al reaches his zenith in the sky, enormous herds of muskines stand basking and grazing in the meadows of Mantiffa, celebrating the light, as does the Broath River, decked now in spangles on its way through the gorge that is Garganta. Northward, Ra’al’s merciless rays crackle the sheets of ice upon the Eglek Tundra and pitch huge slabs of ultimately fragile ice into the Sea of Ubar. Ra’al is thorough and relentless in his work. From the choppy coast of Synquist north to Seputus, the afternoon light begins to weary of its breakneck stint across the sky, finally giving over to evening’s challenge. The western faces of Meridian Mir glow red with the spent light as though inflamed, their reflections stamped like wounds on the pastures of Hrendia. Evening’s cold air once again wraps around the islands of Aquinon and Pyr, and twilight envelops the coasts of Occidus Oceanus into shadows. Nighttime steals again into all its domains, sure of its power to render secret all its unknowns. The dark comes alive and begins her routine, ordering her moons as captive handmaidens across the sky. Ocera and Goss begin their stately promenades, gracefully brushing the land with their silvery strands. THIS is Pisces.
