[QUOTE="aramis erak, post: 7799831, member: 6779310"] 5000 years ago, the sea level was 2-4 m lower; 5m in a few places. 5000 years BC is 7000 years BP. The Harrappan dates have been pushed back to 5000 BC or earlier... even if their major cities aren't, but even those date back to 3000 BC, or 5000 years ago. Some artifacts that appear harrappan have been dated as far back as 8500 years ago. the Levant had many protocivilizations dating back to at least 6500 BC. Many independent towns, and trade flows. Amongst them, these groups included the Natufians. Multi-city civs, Sumer, Harappa, and Egypt are all building cities at least 5000 BC, but are older cultures transitioning to city-building, not sudden whole-cloth "Hey' let's build cities now!"... And underwater sites didn't even get looked at until the 1980's... There are human occupied caves whose entry is below sea level at 5000 PC Dynastic societies have had multi-thousand year continuities - Egypt, China, Rome (albeit not in Rome - the Roman empire lasted until the fall of Byzantium.) No dynasty lasts more than a few hundred, but the state and the culture do. Even Japan claims 1200 years continuity... until WW2.
