WorldWorksGames: City of Himmelveil & TerrainlinX!!!

Denny

First Post
WorldWorksGames is gearing up to unleash a trilogy of releases for our long awaited fantasy city of Himmelveil. In open development for…far too long, the initial foray will focus on city infrastructure in the form of Streets, Sewers and Canals. These terrain locations function together as one cohesive whole.

Each of the above mentioned releases will showcase our newly designed terrain building system TerrainlinX. Over 2 years in the making, TerrainlinX promises to solve many problems inherent to the format and to make cardstock terrain more accessible, more attractive to a much broader audience. This represents our “dream” terrain system and we are extremely excited to share it with you!

We can’t do a full reveal of this new system until we are closer to launch day but here’s a few highlights:

* AUTOMATED MACHINE CUTTING COMPATIBLE! Compatible with consumer market machine cutting for extremely fast core component fabrication. (Currently CraftRobo and Silhouette SD compatible). Increase your build speed, say goodbye to precision hand cutting and get more terrain on the table faster than ever before!!!

* TOTAL “ON-THE-FLY” MODULARITY! Complete on-the-fly modularity. Change layouts as you play, expand or reduce layouts easily. No limits layout design, nothing locked down, ultimate flexibility!

* MULTI-LEVEL, EASY ACCESS LAYOUTS! Create multi-storied structures with easy access to every level. Combine streets, sewers, buildings and other infrastructure in a single layout!

* COMPACT STORAGE! All elements store flat or very close to it! Organizing and storing your terrain has never been easier!

* STABLE, BUMP-PROOF LAYOUTS! Bump-proof, modular, tile and wall connections.

* HOTSWAPPABLE COMPONENTS! Components swappable with all other TerrainlinX releases! Everything has been standardized from the bottom up! Mix and match walls & floors on-the-fly to create completely original terrain locations. No “kitbash” experience necessary

* 2-D AND 3-D COMPLIANT! 2-D & 3-D layout compliant; Use groundtiles alone or add and remove walls on-the-fly!

We’ll be rounding the corner VERY soon and we’ll be sure to update you here closer to release day.

A few teasers for you…MUCH, MUCH more to come! You can keep up to date in our “What’s Coming?” section of the WWG forum: WorldWorksGames :: Index

Thanks for listening!

Heh - I would guess SoonTM. :)

I love the canals (wait... Love Canal... oh oh) they will be a perfect fit in my steampunk setting. As will what appear to be the hatches for a freight elevator. (For most people they might just lead to some stairs, I but I see freight elevators.)

I also like the way the grid on the canals is defined by fallen leaves floating in the water - not a full grid, but enough that you know where the squares are.

Wow. Very nice! When will you be releasing these?

Hey thanks Riley. Its been a journey but we really feel we have something special here that people will respond to. It does change how terrain is made and used in some substantial ways.

I can't give an absolute date yet due to some unfortunate competitive conflicts of interest. All I can say is VERY, VERY soon.

A few more streets pics for you guys. These don't reveal the full scope of the system but they do give you a taste. We'll do a big reveal in coming days.

Enjoy! :)

It is fantastic that this city, a concept that was nutted out back in 2004 has come to fruition. Using a brand new building system - two years of testing and over a year of beta - Impressive!

Love the second last shot. Give the sense of great depth - like a city plaza with the strength of the architecture surrounding the figure.

I really hope you, Denny are happy with your results and I personally cannot wait for it to hit the streets.

Thanks Lord of Wormwood!

Jeez, since 2004? That is a stretch isn't it! lol. But quite honestly, we did a ton of development on TerrainlinX over that 5 year stretch. LOTS of testing, LOTS of betas that went this way and that. It was a great journey though, finding the right balance and I think people will really respond to what we've done with the system.

Time well spent and we can't wait to share it with everyone! :)

Hey - just wanted to chime in as another supporter.

I started cardstock modeling about 2 or 3 years ago, to spruce up some of my D&D combats. It's been great. World Works stuff is easy to use, and while it may appear daunting at first, it gets to be second nature in less than a week of working with this stuff.

This stuff looks gorgeous, and I'm amazed at how much easier and quicker this has become for people with little time like myself.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words FunkBGR. I hope we can make this little niche market a whole lot less niche with TerrainlinX.

Gah...holding back the goods is killing me! Not much longer now!

It is very nice to see that Streets is not just a set of ground tiles - that there will be enough there to be instantly useful, without the purchase of further sets.

It gives me real hope for the Canals when they come out. :)

The last and the second to last images make me want to run another Mordheim campaign. I am very much looking forward to these releases. :)
