A bard... or not... I had the horror of gaming with a guy who decided to play a bard for our first 3e game. I was actually looking forward to this, as it was the first bard ever in a group I'd ever played with, and I know this guy is really good at role-playing charismatic rogues. I felt it a perfect fit. The guy never once touched anything bardish about himself. No musical instruments, no epic story-telling, no singing, nothing... the whole character wasn't even a PC... should have been an NPC. He only made the whole campaign fall apart for being such an anti-adventurer. He originally described his character as a reluctant hero, much like Han Solo... it was more like a deceptive bastard who was reluctant to get out of bed... much less weild a sword, tell a tale, adventure, get involved in any part of the story he didn't make up... Most destructive character ever... (Warrior was tied to this guy via history, so he had to go along with his desicions... Ranger was insane for an elf (not RPed well at all), and ran off headlong into death... rogue was too busy trying to get elected major to be concerned with the game, and the Monk (my character) was the only one involved with the story... eventually had to leave the group because he was on a mission, and the party... no matter how the DM tried, would not "adventure". Campaign took on a whole new direction... introduced a psion to join this "new" direction, and the warrior put an axe through his chest when they all first meet.... couldn't find one damn good RP reason to stick around after that... what a mess.)
