Hello all. As the Project Lead for Threads of the Pattern netbook , I have asked Sharn Penndroen (in my semi-tyrannical dictator way) to run an open submission for "Shadoweve". For those of you who are not certain what exactly that is, I refer you to the Project Design Log We want to include everyone we can in the project. That is why all updates and decisions have been posted in the WoT rpg wizards forum. Now that wizards is closing that we are posting all information in the new forum that the community is using. The Mabinogin, Call of the Horn, Wheel of Time Rpg forum. Call of the horn is the main fansite for the Wheel of Time Rpg. The ones who brought you the Under the Dragon's Banner netbook, Age of Discovery Netbook and the Forth coming Age of Illusions Netbook (in final editing stages. Props to Skwid) We at Heroes of the Horn Press want those of you who have been itching to take a shot at doing a setting piece to show us what you got. Those of you who have not considered doing Wheel of Time material but are talented (most of you are) this would be a good chance to give back to the roleplaying community and make a contribution. The rules are simple. The place is a small town just north of Amadicia in old Manetheren. The time is concurrent with Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time books (more or less). The name of the village is Shadoweve. This is a project to flesh out this little town and all of its goings on. Please pay careful attention to the format of the entry. It should match that of the Preview: Sword of the Fisher King Taphouse. That Preview has served as a "template" to the Designers and will continue to be a template for the Open Submissions. Here is the link for the Preview that will serve as your "template." Sword of the Fisherking Taphouse Here are a couple of other guide lines. 1. No inns or taverns, please. Only so many inns and taverns can exist in a small village like this, and those have already been done or are being done by other Designers. 2. When posting here to the WoT board, please double star (**) the title of the piece in the subject line, so that we know that it is for the Open Submission. Example: "**Sword of the Fisher King" would be the subject line for the Preview if it were an Open Submission. 3. After having received sufficient feedback, you will e-mail the final version of your piece in .rtf (Rich Text Format) to sharn at: telom_wakax@yahoo.com. The Editor reserves to the right to make small corrections to this final version before the .pdf is complete. Several pieces are in the works and we hope that you don't end up doing a repeat. Although you are encouraged to be imaginative and original, we ask that you try to maintain the Wheel of Time "flavor." To aid you in deciding on what kind of piece you do and how you do it, here are a few suggestions. 1. Possible pieces that could be done: Cartwright, seamstress, bower/fletcher, trader/merchant, cobbler, cooper, mason, miller, potter, and weaver. 2. Have some kind of character hook. Why would the GM want his character to go here? Make it easy for the GM to use this place as a possible springboard for a mission. Make it memorible. 3. Have some "crunch." Whether it be a new item, feat, skill usage, or Prestige Class, have something that will make the players enjoy this production as much as the Game Masters. I hope that I've given enough information here to help everyone get started on their submissions. I'll inform everyone at a future date the deadline for these Open Submissions. Depending on the volume of entries we may or may not be able to take all entries, but we want everyone to have the opportunity to contribute that wants to. Please address all questions about Open Submissions to myself here in this thread. Don't post your submissions as replies to this thread (see above about subject line for the seperate thread.) I look forward to seeing lots of quality pieces from lots of people. So let's see what you've got! Thank you for your time.
