WotBS WotBS - Three possible endings question

I have most of the series but haven't read past the second adventure yet, and I'm seeking some spoiler-free clarification on something. The text blurbs on the last three adventures in the series speak of three possible endings. Does that mean that you run your players through the first nine, and they then choose one of the remaining three adventures to complete (so that it will really be experienced by any given group as a ten-part series), or merely that you can end the series after 10 or 11 parts instead of all 12 if you wish?

It means that plot-wise, you can choose the order in which you play adventures 10, 11, and 12 (which together form a nice "final trilogy" whatever order they're played in).

Yep, you still get to play all twelve adventures. The last three can be played in any order, though. The default order is 10,11,12 (and they're mainly designed with that in mind), but each has guidelines on what to do if your players choose to tackle them in a different order.

Basically, each of the final three focuses on a different major foe. First, if you're letting the PCs just go whichever way they want, if they decide to take on Foe #3 instead of Foe #1, all three adventures are pretty much balanced against the same difficulty (PCs don't get that much stronger between 18th and 20th level).

Second, if you prefer a more narrative approach, you want to save the most significant threat for the last, so if the players really hate Foe #2, you can arrange things to make sure he is the last person you face.
