Kesh -I like the idea of a D20 Fantasy book like the D20 Modern. Heck i'd like to see a D20 Basic Book as well. Maddman75 -If you thought BOVD was good, then BOED is pretty much the same. Its powerups, spell feats, and equipment are just the polar outside of BOVD (not quite that simple, but basically so). BOED is no more of a power up for good than BOVD was for evil. I was rather surprised at the flavor value i got out of these books (being a WOTC basher from the start). In fact, i have been rather surprised at the quality of WOTC books lately. I wasn't too in love with their class books before, but Complete Warrior is a vast improvement over S&F, though it does rankle me a bit having to pay twice for some of the material. For anyone complaining about having to buy new 3.5 core books...don't!! I didn't. I love the fact that they created the SRD. Now i download what i want of it and leave the changes i didn't like. Now i can show up at the game table with a handful of the printed up changes i need. Its not like they are getting ripped off, they still get/got a LOT of money out of me (BOED, BOVD, Complete Warrior and almost certaintly Unearthed Arcana. Not to mention the pile of 3.0 books i have purchased since it came out). I didn't like the idea of the 3.5 so soon (or ever), but because of the SRD you don't have to worry about it. AS for the flavor/style quality of WOTC, its the core company, its books can't get too specified or directed in one style or another or they would lose their market base. They have to be fairly bland so as to appeal to the majority. I think they straddle the line well enough. D20 companies exist to provide the flavor and unique styles. -WOTC is the meat & potatoes. -Green Ronin, Necromancer, Sword & Sorcery (and the myriad of companies like Monte's under their banner) are the Herbs and Spices. -Atlas Games and Eden Studios are the desert. I can't believe i am defending WOTC! :)
