WotC setting thing... Zulkir, help!

When I submitted my proposal for the WotC setting proposal contest, er, competition, er, you know... I gave my address, phone #, e-mail, etc. like a good little submitee but the problem is, all that stuff's about to change :(

I've been working in Washington for the summer on an internship and I'll be here until the morning of the 10th. When I submitted my proposal I guess I didn't realize it would take so long to judge them all (I've said in other threads recently, my wisdom isn't what I'd like it to be  ) so I gave my apartment address, phone #, and my work e-mail address because if something had been sent to me in July that's where I would have gotten it. The problem is, I'll have moved back to Ohio by the time the judges are back from GenCon and everything (even e-mail) will be different. I know there's a ton of competition so I'm very doubtful I'll make the top 10, but I'd hate to never know if I didn't make it because you couldn't reach me. Also, I know you can't search through 10,000 entries for mine to change this stuff, but maybe if one of the top 10, by some miracle, happens to have the e-mail address t-michr@microsoft.com could you please send notification to mxr89@cwru.edu instead? Anyhow, I hate to inconvenience you and I know you can't start granting favors for 10,000 entrants but I've been really excited about this contest and upon realizing this problem I've been very worried :( If you can't help, I understand, but I figure it can't hurt to ask. If you need me to do anything else to speed this process along just ask here, or e-mail either of the addresses above (although not the Microsoft one after 8/9), I'll do whatever you need me to, to help you out. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read through this.

I'm facing a similar problem. If the results of the first round of the setting search had been released on the original schedule then it wouldn't have been an issue, but as it stand there is a chance all of the contact information I listed will be invalid by the time an actual decision has been reached. While I understand that my chances of advancing are extremely small, I find it irksome that my chances may rest on a fluke of bad timing rather than the actual merit (or lack thereof) of my entry.

Yea. And I wanted to add that I, for one, am sympathetic to the delays. I'm glad to see that WotC is giving each entry the shot it deserves and I feel very bad for the guys over there working so hard. Don't let my concern lead you to think I blame WotC for the delays, I'm so happy to have this opportunity that it doesn't matter if they have to delay it until Christmas. I'm just genuinely concerned for my proposal and would hope that considering the delays they could make a list or something of people who will have to be contacted elsewhere if they're one of the top 10.

Yeah, I'm going to have the same problem... in fact, this Friday is my final move-out date. Crap.

I'd also like to add my thanks to all the great folks at WotC for all the work they're going through to judge everything, and, yes, even for all the time they're taking.

Ahhh.

The benefits of using web based email. Not exactly why I did it, but I'm certainly glad I did.

You might also talking to your systems admin at Microsoft and see if he can set it up so your account exists for another month, and forwards everything to your edu address.

I plan to do that; I'm not sure what they'll say though, so I figure I'd toss this out there regardless. :)

I'm facing a similar problem myself. As of about a week from now, my phone number and address will change. My e-mail address will remain the same. My parents will still be able to forward mail/phone messages to me (I've been living with them, and obviously, they're staying), but as it happens, everyone will be out of the house from mid-August to very near the end of it.

I'm not even sure how my e-mail access will be during that period. So...will WotC allow plenty of time for winners to get back to them? Is there any way I can change my contact info at this point?

Did you guys register your forwarding address with the Postal Service? That should cover you for a few months, assuming that WotC notifies the winners by snail mail, which I assume they would in addition to if not instead of email/phone.

Also, emailing them directly might be a better method of making sure they get the change of address information. Posting it here doesn't ensure they will necessarily even see your plea.
