I'm going to be joining a friend's pathfinder game soon and the character I am going to be playing is all about preparing and eating wonderful and exotic foods. He has nearly 80 lbs of his Handy Haversack devoted to herbs, spices, cooking utensils, etc. What he doesn't have room nor carrying capacity for is fire wood. With that in mind, I constructed a spell to make an artificial cooking fire. My hope is to replace my zero level spell spark with this one, but am willing to replace one of my 1st level spells if people feel it is too strong for zero. All instances of {}{} represent the various possible components for the spell. Summon Cooking Fire School Universal [fire]; Level {0}{1} (all full casters) Casting Time {1 standard action}{1 min}{5 min}{10 min} Components V, S, F (toothpick sized piece of wood) Range 5ft Effect 1ft-radius open flame Duration {2 hours}{10 min / level}{20 min / level} See Text Saving Throw See Text; Spell Resistanceyes You summon a magical cooking fire a few inches above the selected surface. Though the flames produces heat and a mild smoke, which dissipates a few feet above the fire, flammable objects removed from the flame immediately cease burning. Therefore the flames of this spell are safe to use in locations that would otherwise be foolish; such as on boats, gas filled caverns/swamps, enclosed places, etc. It should be noted however; that an object or creature that enters or starts a round inside the flames receives 1d4 fire damage, DC 10 Reflex for half. If the caster is ever more than 10ft from the fire at any time, the spell immediately ends as if dismissed. In addition, this spell provides anyone attempting to cook with the fire a {+2}{+1 / 2 level (cap at level 10)} competence bonus to <cooking skill check>
