Would there be interest in a Gathered Designer Quotes/Rumors thread?

From time to time, a writer drops a hint of what to expect in an upcoming book. Other times, they give us full contents lists. At again other times, a book itself gives hints about what to expect in an upcoming product. Most of the time, the information provided is accurate, though some haven't been, due to circumstances beyond the one giving the info. Other times, the hints are rather cryptic.

These quotes are usually all over the place, and it is quite easy to miss quite a few. Thus, I wonder if there would be any interest in a thread that attempts to gather them - even if it is limited to upcoming WotC products. Certainly, such a thread would need a few helpers, who report the quotes and rumors in the thread when they stumble upon them.

Sure, such quotes usually end up in the News here on ENWorld, but after some time, they're away in the archives, where they are hard to be found. The review section attempts something similar, but the size of the task is noticeable. I'm not aware of other attempts in this direction (Merric's site deals mostly with the miniatures aspect), so if there are, let me know! :)

i would have interest in seeing such threads (obviously, mainly for the products I would _consider_ buying/looking at). It is one of the first things that drew me to EN World back when 3.0 wasn't even out yet! There would be lists of all the "dropped hints/rumors/previews" -- I always like that sort of information as it helps shape how much continued interest I have in a product or concept.

Having said that, it'd be a lot of work. Plus, it runs the risk of people not realizing a snip of information may not be a complete picture and arguing/commenting on the incomplete info.. if doing it by threads, it would be a thread per product (which would be unwieldy in the number of threads that means this type of thing would even need (ad some getting updates ofen, some not0. Or by month of release or something. But that would make it difficult to cross reference if you don't know the release date. (Month of "rumor" wouldn't work since it would spread a product's information over several threads rather than one thus defeating th purpose)...

Anyway, my point in saying all that -- I like information like this.
But to put it in practice in a thread seems a litle unwieldy? If it works, I'm all for it! The announcemet page may be good enough (relative output value to the amount of work involved, etc.).

Another possibility... on occasion, i do see "previews" and snippets on the review pages efore the product comes to light. How about adding a new section to that for "rumors" that can get updated ? Or else "cloning" the reviews section to make a brand new "preview section" ? yes.. lots of work... i'm rambling...

just sharing some thoughts, that's all. :)

It's a very good idea. I know I post such threads from time to time (not connected with Miniatures!), but there hasn't been a consolidated thread/site for such.

Cheers!

I think instead of a thread, there should be a separate newsfeed for this. Not sure what that entails technologically, but keeping track of multiple threads would be just as bad as scouring multiple websites for info.

Otherwise I am very keen on the idea. I don't have as much time to surf the web as I used too -- something called work that I supposed to be doing... right now, in fact. ;)

I didn't have much time these last days, so I let this slide, especially with Merric and Knightfall posting their own threads, but I guess I should post a few answers.

Yep, that was one of the inspirations - another one was the compiled revision thread.

One might try to enforce a "Discussions in a different thread" rule.

My idea was a single thread, for much the same reasons you listed. Of course, a single thread would run into problems of its own - such as the size of the posts (is there a maximum size to posts here?), and should some information be deleted at some point, or archived?

I'm not sure about putting it somewhere else than in a thread, be it a newsfeed, or a rumor section as a clone of the review section. It certainly has its merits, but would need the ok from the administrators. It would propably need to prove first that it is worth the hassle.
